The previous year, RaceTrac launched its new Rewards app with a design-led approach rather than a user-centered focus. As a result, users struggled to navigate the app, leading to frustration and frequent uninstalls.
RaceTrac approached me to lead the redesign, with the challenge of maintaining the existing platform and third-party integrations. Working closely with the internal product team, we analyzed the current experience and determined that a complete redesign was necessary.
I began by mapping the app based on business requirements, then developed user flows and wireframes before building a prototype for moderated user testing. Once we were confident in the user feedback and performance, we moved into visual design, crafting a fresh, clean, and playful aesthetic, one that would go on to influence future digital products. Over the years, we have continued to iterate and expand the app’s functionality, shaping it into what it is today.
